Program to the
Business, Policy, Scientific and Labor Communities |
The
Center sponsors a highly regarded program of breakfast and
lunch briefings for members of the business and public policy
community. Featured speakers at our briefings in the last two
years have included Adolfo Aguilar Zinser, Mexican Ambassador
to the U.N. Security Council; Paulo Paiva, Vice-President of
the Inter-American Development Bank; Eduardo Stein, Foreign
Minister of Guatemala; Vilmar Faria, Special Adviser to the
president of Brazil and Jorge Leiva, the Chilean Minister of
the Economy.

CLAS-organized group of policy, business and labor leaders. |
CLAS
is unique in its outreach to labor groups. Since 2000, the
Center has organized visits
to Tijuana for the president and national staff of the
International Association of Machinists (IAM). In November,
2002, the program was
extended to the Executive Committee of the International Metalworkers’ Federation
(IMF). The trips focus on the maquiladora industry and its
effects on the communities of the border region.
