The Center for Latin American Studies will be hosting Colombia's Sergio Fajardo in Spring 2019. During that time, he will be teaching a short month-long seminar.

Sergio Fajardo ran for President of Colombia in 2018, receiving nearly a quarter of the vote. He previously served as governor of Antioquia (2011-2015) and mayor of Medellín (2004-07.) His innovative policies in those offices became a model for other governments worldwide, promoting education and steps to address inequality and corruption as the answer to many problems faced by Colombia.

In 2016, Fajardo taught a course for CLAS - "Education as the Engine of Social Transformation."

More information on this course will be available as plans are finalized. Interested students should contact CLAS Vice Chair Julia Byrd, julia.byrd(at)berkeley.edu.
