Michelle Bachelet, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and twice the President of Chile, met with faculty, students, and friends of CLAS during a visit on April 17. Between her terms as Chile's president, she was the founding head of UN Women (United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.)

President Bachelet has long been a friend of CLAS, since visiting the Center and Berkeley during her first term as Chile's president in 2008.  She taught a course at the Center in 2011 and has spoken on multiple occasions.
