Visiting Scholar: Tomás McKay

Tomás McKay.

Visiting Scholar, 2014-15

Tomás McKay is a Chilean architect who has worked on projects of diverse scale and complexity, both with his own studio and with Chilean master Teodoro Fernández. He has also taught at the Universidad Católica de Chile for 15 years and has been a visiting professor at several other universities.

As a visiting scholar at the Center for Latin American Studies, he plans to research the processes and policies that have led to the recovery and conservation of the Bay Area’s wetlands. In addition, he will work on creating architectural tools that allow for the enjoyment, contemplation, and conservation of these landscapes. His visit is sponsored by the Environmental Ministry of Chile and the School of Architecture at the Universidad Católica de Chile.
