Event Description

On October 4, Berkeley students gathered for a unique opportunity organized by the Center for Latin American Studies to speak with one of the leaders of Chile's student protest movement, which seeks reform of their country's educational system.

Speaker

Giorgio Jackson is an industrial engineering student and a leader of the Chilean student movement.  In 2010, he was elected president of the Chile's Catholic University Student Federation (Federación de Estudiantes de la Universidad Católica de Chile or FEUC) and in that capacity has become one of the principal leaders of the 2011 student demonstrations.  He is spokesman of  the Chilean Student's Confederation (Confederación de Estudiantes de Chile or CONFECH).
