After the screening, Gustavo Vinagre will be in conversation with Lázaro González.

Synopsis

In a dystopian future São Paulo not so very far from the present, a virus is circulating, mainly attacking the brain and the ability to remember. A state that has forgotten a past marked by colonialism and dictatorship desperately awaits some indeterminate “Golden Phase.” Three queer young people drift through a city bled dry by the pandemic and rampant capitalism, remembering each other’s late lovers, sharing their experiences with HIV, getting makeup tips for masked faces, and ultimately coming together with others forgotten by society for an antique revue in the salon of a singer named Mirta. 86 minutes. Portuguese with English subtitles.

Speakers

Gustavo Vinagre, a writer and director, studied Literature at Universidade de São Paulo and Scriptwriting at EICTV, Cuba.

Lázaro González a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Film & Media at UC Berkeley.
