Bio/CV: 

Yessica Liliana Porras is a doctoral candidate in the department of History of Art at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on the study of colonial wall paintings found in churches and convents in the Northern Andes (Colombia and Ecuador). Yessica just concluded her field research work with the support of the Social Science Research Council, International Dissertation Research Fellowship (IDRF). She was the recipient of a 2021- 2022 Thoma Foundation Research and Travel Award for Art of the Spanish Americas, which she plans to use to complete her dissertation fieldwork, including the digital reconstruction of mural paintings. She is currently a UC Dissertation Year Fellow (2021-2022), completing her dissertation writing. Yessica’s work looks to set a precedent in the study of colonial mural painting in Latin America by exploring innovative research and dissemination methods.
