AGRICULTURE: Native Pollinators and the Avocado

Abstract:

Discussing their work with the species that help pollinate the avocado, the authors examine the lifecycle of the avocado trees, their history and spread through the Americas, and especially the fascinating and beautiful insect species that work to keep the plants healthy and developing. The Urban Bee Lab has worked in pollinator habitat gardens, which provide a diverse plant biome for pollinators to help encourage the species' well-being and an environment in which to continue studying the insects and other potential pollinators of the avocado.
